Five Beer and Girl Scout Cookie Pairings to Brighten Up Your Winter
It’s been a long, cold winter and we are definitely looking forward to spring. Even though it’s still pretty cold and dreary out, there is at least one little glimmer of hope—its Girl Scout Cookie season! When the cookie stands started popping up around here we decided to take the cookies to a whole new level and pair them with some of our favorite beers. So grab some Girl Scout Cookies and some delicious beer and try these pairings if you need a little end of winter pick-me-up.
Believer Double Red + Samoas
The caramel in the Samoas resonates really well with the caramel malt of the beer. The sweetness of the coconut and the chocolate is cut by the hop bitterness that Believer offers giving the whole experience a clean, smooth finish.
Pacific Rain NW Pale Ale + Savannah Smiles
Savannah Smiles was a new cookie to me so I thought it would be fitting to pair it to a beer that is new to Ninkasi as well, the Pacific Rain NW Pale Ale. The bright, lemony zing of the cookie resonates with the tropical and citrus hop notes of the beer.
Vanilla Oatis Oatmeal Stout + Thin Mints
Think of this pairing as the grown up version of milk and cookies. The thick, chocolatey body and sweetness of the oatmeal stout harmonize beautifully with the Thin Mints chocolate cookie. The mint gives the experience a touch of brightness. (Try not to eat the whole box…or do.)
Helles Belles Lager + Trefoils
The simplicity of this Trefoils butter shortbread cookie is a really great match to the light and toasty malt-forward body of the Helles Belles. Sometimes pairings are just that easy.
Total Domination IPA + Do-si-dos
Having these Do-si-dos peanut butter sandwich cookies with Total Domination IPA is really a dream come true. The crumbly-buttery cookie melds with the malt profile of the beer and the fatty richness of the peanut butter filling is instantly cut by the hop bitterness. This cleanses the palate and makes you want to go back for more.
